FAQs

Q: How soon can I walk on my carpet after it has been cleaned?

A: During the drying process it is important to keep off of the carpet as long as possible. That being said, our process extracts all of the water used in cleaning and rinsing the carpet as a final step.  This will leave the carpet fibers damp, but not wet. If you can avoid walking on the carpet for two to four hours that will be enough time for the carpet to fully dry.

Q: How often should I get my carpets cleaned?

A: Depending on the fabric your carpet is made of, most manufacturers suggest a thorough cleaning two times a year. Higher traffic areas, and in many office and commercial spaces, more frequent cleaning is appropriate. The reason for this is that as dirt collects in a carpet, and then is walked on, it will literally “cut into” and degrade the fibers the carpet is made from. This is especially true in hallways and entries, those places that get a lot of traffic.

A second reason is that microscopic organisms collect in your carpet. These can be tracked in from outdoors or come from pets. It is important to regularly sanitize your carpet and rugs to maintain the healthiest environment possible for your family.

Q: How long does it take get my carpet cleaned?

A: As a general rule of thumb, we use a figure of 400 square feet of carpet can be cleaned per hour. However, this estimate can easily vary based upon the amount of soil in your carpet, how many pieces of furniture might have to moved, and the fabric content of your carpet.

Q: Can carpet cleaning remove all dirt and other toxins?

A: For the most part, yes. If your carpet has not been cleaned for an extended period of time all of the dirt and built up toxins may not be removed with the initial cleaning. The combination of water, cleaning solutions, agitation, and high volume extraction will be effective in eliminating the majority of the soil in your carpet and rugs.

Q: Why can’t I just rent a carpet machine at the grocery store?

A: You can, but here are some of the challenges you will have getting a thoroughly cleaned carpet.

  • The machines are not consistently maintained for optimum agitation and extraction.
  • The detergent solutions that are offered are “generic” and designed for all carpet types. A professional carpet cleaner will analyze your carpet and rugs, their level of soil, and use the appropriate chemical mix.
  • The extraction capabilities of these machines is inadequate to really removed all of the solution from your carpet. This isn’t just an issue with how long it takes for the carpet to dry. It is the extraction step that really removes the dirt and other toxins that have been loosened by the action of the water, chemical, and agitation. If not properly extracted these will just “fall back into” your carpet.
